the future
Looking ahead:
Since the staff returned to the UK in the Spring of 2009 the Project has worked hard to raise funds through corporate sponsorship and private donations to achieve the next target. £23,750 has been raised in funds and over £4,000 through gifts ‘in-kind’ since the start of the project through the generosity of the following companies and individuals Spring Studio, Supplies House, Feral Equipment, Martin and Nicki Butcher, the Hall family, The Delfina Foundation, Snappy Snaps Kentish Town, The Pro Centre, Darkside, Seth and Mo Felner, Mayor Kdher and Christine Khan, 6 Design, Joel Bennathan, Sam Barker photography.
In Halabja, the staff are continuing to run play sessions twice a week on the site and discuss the foundation of a Play Association to continue the project into the future.
We plan to bring out equipment for more free play sessions, and visit other areas of the town and surrounding villages providing unique opportunities for fun and creativity. The architectural plans for the central building of the site will be submitted to the municipality for approval. In 2011 we aim to build a childrens centre, bespoke innovative play structures, and train Halabjan staff to continue the successful running of the centre.
